Chapbook Launch - Virginia and John Lowe's 'Lines Between'
John & Virginia Lowe hope you can join them (and us) for the launch of their new poetry book 'Lines Between' (MPU 2018).
The book will be launched by 2017 MPU IPC judge and all round legend Judith Rodriguez. The event will be hosted by MPU President Steve Smart (who thinks John and Virginia are just delightful).

Every year Melbourne Poets Union takes a bit of a road trip to catch the poetry and performances of somewhere Outside Melbourne. Join us this year in Castlemaine at The Taproom. With featured performances by amazing local-to-Castlemaine poets Andy Jackson and Klare Lanson, and coming over from Melbourne Alan Penland!
Castlemaine has a huge poetry scene with some amazing local poets and to see more of this we're having an open mic as well. 3 Features, Plus an open mic and it's free entry!
Andy Jackson has featured at literary events and arts festivals in Australia, India, USA and Ireland, and lives in Castlemaine. His most recent collection, Music our bodies can't hold (Hunter Publishers 2017), consists of portrait poems of other people with Marfan Syndrome.
Klare Lanson has worked for over 20 years as a curator, writer, editor, poet, sound artist and performance maker. Lanson makes collaborative and interdisciplinary performance projects using the digital to explore disruption, failure and place. Her latest projects are #wanderingcloud, Commute, and recently a mobile art ethnography entitled TouchOn/TouchOff.
Alan began as a teen poet, searching for his inner Dylan Thomas, qualified as an architect and became a comedian. He ran Melbourne’s first stand up club Le Joke and was a core member of the award winning tv comedy Fast Forward. His written work has also won awards at international film festivals. A radio ad sold a lots of hot water systems. In 2016 Alan returned to his roots, writing and performing spoken word, winning a SLAM and the MSW prize for 2017.
