Tina Giannoukos was born in Melbourne. As a child, she lived for several years in Greece, where she completed her primary-school education. She holds a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Melbourne.
She has worked in teaching, journalism and law, and has held a Varuna Fellowship for new writers. She has also lived and worked in Beijing, and has travelled widely, including in Egypt. She has read her poetry in Greece and China. Her first collection of poetry, In a Bigger City, appeared in 2005. Her most recent collection is Bull Days (Arcadia 2016).
